St. Lucie County to reopen parks, special facilities on Thursday

Kitterman Woods Residents St. Lucie County’s Parks and Recreation Department will begin to reopen parks and special facilities with limitations, starting May 7.

  • The Savannas Recreation Area and Campground will begin taking overnight reservations May 7 with only 25 percent of the spaces (16 sites) available. Tent camping will be prohibited until further notice. Visitors will be prohibited from congregating in groups of 10 or more, while the following amenities will remain closed: Dog park, playground, Palm Island, pavilions and picnic tables.
  • The track at Lawnwood Stadium in Fort Pierce will be open for individual use, starting Thursday, May 7.
  • St. Lucie County Skate Park will reopen with limited access, starting Thursday, May 7. Only 10 skaters will be allowed in the park at the same time. If attendance becomes an issue, time will be limited to one hour. Skaters with active annual memberships will receive one extra month for free when their card expires because of the shut down
