The Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens invites kids ages 5 to 12 and their families to explore the Gardens while learning about orchids on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. until noon.

Participants will learn about different types of orchids while getting an up-close look at their beautiful blooms in the outdoor Orchid Room. Children can enjoy a snack and have fun making an orchid-themed project. Plus, each child gets to take home their very own orchid.

Classes are organized by volunteers from the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, the Port St. Lucie Orchid Society and the Master Gardeners of Port St. Lucie.

The class is free, but pre-registration is required. Please call (772) 337-1959 to register.

The Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens is located at 2410 S.E. Westmoreland Blvd.
